Printing

Printing is free to Atlantic Cape students, faculty, and staff, for College-related purposes. Some restrictions apply. Check out our printing procedures for more information about the rules governing printing in the libraries.

Color Printing

Color printing is currently available by request. To print a document in color, send a copy of the file as an attachment to circdesk@atlanticcape.edu. The Circulation Desk is the main service point in each library. After sending the file, visit the Circulation Desk and ask a staff member to print your document.

This service is only available to current students, faculty and staff of Atlantic Cape Community College, and is reserved for coursework.

More Technology

Headphones and calculators may be borrowed for use in the library.

Graphic calculators are available for students enrolled in math and science classes that use this type of calculator. Students will be asked to verify their registration for a qualifying class. Calculators are lent for 8 weeks at a time, and can be renewed until the end of the semester.

Best Practices for using Computer Labs

Working With Files

  • Name and save your files as soon as you create them.
  • Documents saved on library computers will be erased every time the machine restarts. Use our hard drives only for very temporary storage. Save your files to a USB drive or to the cloud.
  • Back your work up frequently.
  • Give files meaningful names.
  • Use folders to keep files organized.
  • New! You can also get Microsoft 365 online, and save files to OneDrive. To get started, go to Atlantic Cape Connect. To use OneDrive or other Microsoft 365 apps in the library, sign into your Microsoft account.

Printing

  • Check the print preview to make sure the formatting on your document is acceptable.
  • Use color printing only when needed.
  • Abide by our printing procedures. These are in place to preserve printer access for the College community.

Scanning and Copying

  • Be sure to retrieve your original documents when you are done.
  • Copyright law of the United States (Title 17 U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. The person using the equipment is liable for any infringement.

Security

  • Using a USB drive? Scan it each time you insert it into a port.
  • Working with files containing personal data? Restart the computer before you leave.
  • Make sure you save your work first, or you will lose it.
