Printing and Scanning at the Atlantic Cape Libraries

Students

  • The library provides access to self-service printing in black and white, and color printing with staff assistance.
  • Printing is limited to
    • research materials for current assignments.
    • classroom assignments for the current week
    • College-related needs like registration.
  • When possible, please use double-sided printing for multiple -page documents.
  • When printing out long documents, please print only one chapter or section per print session.
  • Color printing should be reserved for documents where the color is important.
  • Printing out whole books is not permitted. In most cases, this is a violation of copyright law.

Faculty and Staff

  • The library provides access to self-service printing in black and white, and color printing with staff assistance.
  • Printing is limited to
    • research materials.
    • handouts and other classroom materials for the current week.
    • Other materials relating to professional responsibilities.
  • When possible, please use double-sided printing for multiple -page documents.
  • When printing out long documents, please print only one chapter or section per print session.
  • Color printing should be reserved for documents where the color is important.
  • Printing complete copies of copyright-protected documents for distribution is not permitted. This is a violation of copyright law. Printing selected portions is usually acceptable Fair Use practice. 

Using the Scanners

Scanners are available for use by all library users, but in busy times, priority is given to current students, faculty, and staff.

Scanned materials may be printed out, attached to email, or saved to personal digital storage. They will not be stored on College equipment after the end of the scanning session.

Scanning of copyright-protected materials is subject to the same restrictions as printed or photocopied materials.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. The person using this equipment is responsible for any infringement.
