Kindertransport (Children's Transport) was the informal name of a series of rescue efforts which brought thousands of refugee Jewish children to Great Britain from Nazi Germany between 1938 and 1940.
Following the violent pogrom by Nazi authorities upon Jews in Germany known as Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass) on November 9th and 29th, 1938, the British government eased immigration restrictions for children under the age of 17 to enter Great Britain from Germany and German annexed territories (Austria and the Czech lands).
