This guide provides information and resources for faculty who are interested in exploring opportunities for using textbooks and learning materials published through non-commercial sources in their (physical or virtual) classrooms.

- National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine
The NAP publishes more than 200 books a year on a wide range of topics in science, engineering, and medicine, providing authoritative, independently-researched information on important matters in science and health policy. They offer more than 8,500 titles in PDF format. Almost all of these PDFs can be downloaded for free by the chapter or the entire book - Applied Math and Science Education Repository
AMSER (the Applied Math and Science Education Repository) is a portal of educational resources and services built specifically for use by those in Community and Technical Colleges but free for anyone to use. AMSER is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) as part of the National Science Digital Library, and is being created by a team of project partners led by Internet Scout.

A wide variety of resources from organizations and projects relating to biology. Not exclusively college-level. - BioInteractive
Although not explicitly labeled with CC licenses, this material is intended for sharing. Extensive adaptations are probably not appropriate without permission. - Visual Human Project
The NLM Visible Human Project has created publicly-available complete, anatomically detailed, three-dimensional representations of a human male body and a human female body. - Developmental Biology Film SeriesFrom UMass Amherst. Older, but still valuable for students in basic courses.

Despite the .com address, NOBA is an OER project, underwritten by the Diener Education Fund. Use prepared textbooks or recombine modules to make your own. Supplemental materials available for many modules.
