In the Spring of 1982 the former Atlantic City Electric Company building was purchased by Atlantic County for the college. By 1984, a $4 million renovation project transformed the aging building into a beautiful modern facility.
In April 2001, the Atlantic City Campus was renamed the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Center, after Atlantic County's first County Executive (1975-1979). Mr. Worthington was the chairperson of the Atlantic Cape Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Advisory Board, and as Atlantic County Executive he supported the establishment of many college programs and the development of the Atlantic City Campus.
