Get Started with Sociology Research

Start on the Atlantic Cape Library Home Page.

Find the button to Go to Library Resources.

Go to Library Resources button

Click on the button.

Next menu: Select Find Articles.

From the tabbed box in the center, choose Social Sciences.

From the Social Sciences menu, select Sociology.

Select a database to search.

Explore research about the roles and effects of names in society

Open the database called SocIndex.

Not on campus? You'll need to log in.

Try this search:

Sample SocIndex search. search term: personal names. Use the dropdown menu to the right of the search box to restrict the search to subject terms. Use the limits menu on the lower left to restrict the search to full-text articles.

Explore sociological research about your ethnic heritage

Open the database called SocIndex.

Not on campus? You'll need to log in.

Here's a sample search for Irish Americans. Substitute an ethnic group connected with your family name.

Remember to use the full-text limit for articles you can get right away.

Login required for off campus accessDatabases and eBooks can be accessed from Off Campus through the Off Campus Proxy Server ◄
